Job summary

Coastal Family Health Center in Astoria, OR is hiring a Temporary Pharmacy Technician. You will enter patient data, process prescriptions, and assist with stocking and billing in a fast-paced clinic pharmacy.

Responsibilities include verifying refills, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with TJC/HRSA/YVFWC standards. Pledge to provide high-quality patient care and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year's experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Pharmacy Technician license or active Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred at a level 9.
  • Pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Enter patient data and prescriptions in the system as directed by the Provider.
  • Fill or dispense medications from pharmacy stock and deliver to patients.
  • Process prescription refills and verify availability.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder based on minimum inventory levels.
  • Verify orders against invoices and label items for shelving.
  • Check expiration dates and handle returns to supplier.
  • Process billing forms and seek prior authorizations as needed.
  • Perform duties in line with TJC, HRSA, and YVFWC requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Offer
  • $27.88 - $34.15 /hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates
  • Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked
What You’ll Do:
  • Enter patient data in the system, including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor, and diagnosis. Enter the prescription in the system, selecting the brand, product/drug, and appropriate strength to align with the instructions given by the prescribing Provider
  • Fill or dispense the product from the pharmacy stock and deliver to the patient
  • Process prescription refills, verifying refill availability
  • Maintain awareness of stock level and enter orders for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verify quantity and submit order to the Wholesaler
  • Verify product orders received with the invoice and purchase order. Place a sticker on each item and place it on the shelf
  • Monitor and check expiration dates on drugs in stock and prepare expired stock for return to the Wholesaler. Process credit invoices associated with the returns
  • Return or discard dispensed prescriptions to stock if not picked up by the patient in 30 days. Enter information in the system for reverse billing
  • Complete the third-party billing form and contact the Provider if prior authorization is required
  • Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • One year's experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician license ormay have an active Pharmacy Intern License
  • Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred at a level 9
  • This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 9 is achieved
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning, and copying
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
  • Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system and the ability to learn new systems
  • This job will require a pre-employment drug screen, which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
