Job summary

Salud Medical Center in Woodburn, OR is hiring a bilingual Pharmacy Cashier to support patient access to medications and services. This full-time, non-exempt position offers 100% employer-paid health insurance, profit sharing, a 403(b) plan, and generous PTO/holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Pre-employment drug screen after conditional offer.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with ALTA score 9 eligibility.
• Bilingual ability at level 9 required.
• Strong verbal and listening communication for customer service.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Able to perform administrative tasks (phones, filing, etc.).
• Team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Organize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of pharmacy workflows and software.

Responsibilities

• Answer the phone and transfer calls to staff.
• Enter patient data and billing information in the system.
• Deliver prescriptions and collect payment and signature.
• Coordinate prescription counseling with the Pharmacist as needed.
• Monitor stock levels and restock based on minimum inventory levels.
• Verify orders with invoices and place labels on items.
• Check expiration dates on drugs in stock.
• Return or discard unpicked prescriptions and record reverse billing.
• Perform clinical tasks per TJC/HRSA/YVFWC requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Pharmacy Cashiers play a vital role in supporting patient access to medications and pharmacy services at YVFWC. This role provides essential clerical, customer service, and medication support functions to help ensure patients receive accurate, timely, and safe pharmacy services. This position helps ensure smooth pharmacy operations and a positive patient experience.

Position Highlights

What You’ll Do

• Answers the phone, answers non-professional level inquiries and transfers calls to appropriate staff
• Enter patient data and billing information in the system including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor and diagnosis
• Deliver prescription to the patient verifying correct medication is provided. Collects payment and signature from the patient
• Coordinates prescription counseling by the Pharmacist as needed
• Maintain awareness of stock level and enters order for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verifies quantity and submits order to the Wholesaler
• Verifies product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Places a sticker on each item and places it on the shelf
• Monitor and checks expiration dates on drugs in stock
• Return or discards dispensed prescription to stock if not picked up by patient. Enters information in the system for reverse billing as allowed by state regulations
• Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• This job will require a pre-employment drug screen which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
• This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 9 is achieved
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills required at a level 9
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning and copying
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
• Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy workflows
• Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems including Microsoft Office preferred
• Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system preferred
