Job summary

Miramar Health Center in Kennewick, WA invites you to join as a Pharmacy Assistant. You will provide clerical, customer service and medication support to ensure accurate, timely, and safe pharmacy services for patients.

The role includes data entry, prescription deliveries, and assisting pharmacists with counseling and inventory management. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of related experience, and bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of pharmacy assistant, office, administrative, patient care or customer service experience.
  • Pharmacy Assistant state registration required within 60 days of hire or active Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required at level 9.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks (phone, filing, faxing, scanning, copying).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Organizational skills for multitasking and attention to detail.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and at least one pharmacy software system.

Responsibilities

  • Answer the phone and transfer calls to appropriate staff.
  • Enter patient data and billing information into the system.
  • Deliver prescriptions to patients and collect payments.
  • Coordinate prescription counseling with Pharmacist as needed.
  • Monitor stock levels and place restocking orders.
  • Verify orders against invoices and label items on the shelf.
  • Check expiration dates and manage stock accordingly.
  • Process prescription refills and obtain prior authorizations per state rules.
  • Perform administrative tasks and support compliance with regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pharmacy Assistants play a vital role in supporting patient access to medications and pharmacy services at YVFWC. This role provides essential clerical, customer service, and medication support functions to help ensure patients receive accurate, timely, and safe pharmacy services. This position helps ensure smooth pharmacy operations and a positive patient experience.

Position Highlights:
  • 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
  • $19.69-$24.12/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

What You’ll Do:
  • Answers the phone, answers non-professional level inquiries and transfers calls to appropriate staff
  • Enters patient data and billing information in the system including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor and diagnosis
  • Delivers prescription to the patient verifying correct medication is provided. Collects payment and signature from the patient
  • Coordinates prescription counseling by the Pharmacist as needed
  • Maintains awareness of stock level and enters order for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verifies quantity and submits order to the Wholesaler
  • Verifies product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Places a sticker on each item and places it on the shelf
  • Monitors and checks expiration dates on drugs in stock
  • Returns or discards dispensed prescription to stock if not picked up by patient. Enters information in the system for reverse billing as allowed by state regulations
  • Processes prescription refills verifying refill availability as allowed by state regulations
  • Completes third party billing form and contacts Provider if prior authorization as allowed by state regulations
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

This job will require a pre-employment drug screen which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment
