Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support benefit investigations, prior authorizations, and patient outreach within the outpatient pharmacy and Home Delivery team. The role requires accurate documentation, strong math and computer skills, and a collaborative work style.

Schedule is 40 hours per week, day shift, on-site in Massachusetts, with potential signing bonus eligibility discussed during interview.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current license with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
• Certified by PTCB or ExCPT; if not certified, must become within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of one year of related experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Proficiency in math and using a computer.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions with accuracy, efficiency and dependability.
• Positive work ethic and teamwork in the department.
• Benefit investigations will involve multiple clinical requests and shifts in outpatient pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Completes benefit investigations when requested and documents results on patient chart.
• Submit prior authorizations to insurance via various methods and perform follow-up calls.
• Communicate information about manufacturer patient savings opportunities to providers and patients.
• Perform follow-up calls to patients regarding insurance decisions, rejections, and prescription filling.
• Maintain inventory of medications and coordinate with the Home Delivery pharmacy.
• Coordinate prescription delivery with patient and Home Delivery pharmacy; queue for home delivery team.
• Maintain a clean work area and assist in quality indicator monitoring.
• Participate in problem solving and Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
