Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform benefit investigations and manage prior authorizations under the supervision of the operations manager. The role requires a current Massachusetts Pharmacy license or eligibility to become certified within 6 months and at least one year of related experience.

Responsibilities include coordinating prescription delivery, maintaining inventory, and supporting quality improvement initiatives within the Home Delivery Pharmacy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current license with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
• Certified by one of the national governing bodies such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT; if not certified, must become certified within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs benefit investigations and documents results in the patient’s electronic medical record.
• Submit prior authorizations to insurance via multiple methods and follow up on decisions.
• Communicate patient savings options to providers and patients clearly.
• Make follow up calls to patients regarding insurance decisions, rejections, and prescription filling information.
• Maintain inventory and coordinate prescription delivery with Home Delivery Pharmacy.
• Assist in quality indicator monitoring and participate in continuous improvement activities.
