Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to coordinate medication access, manage prior authorizations, and enroll patients in PAPs to ensure timely delivery of high-cost medications.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Medical/Secretarial or related field is required or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages medication coordination and removal of barriers to access, coordinating with prescribers and insurance for approvals and prior authorizations.
• Enrolls patients in patient assistance programs (PAPs) and tracks applications to ensure timely funding for high-cost medications.
• Supports coordinated care by communicating with patients, pharmacists, insurers, and staff; documents and resolves issues related to coverage and delivery.
• Acts as subject matter expert on PAPs, grants, foundations, coupons, and social work involvement to improve patient access and satisfaction.
• Coordinates with pharmacy staff on medication orders, inventories, and delivery; troubleshoots insurance issues to prevent treatment interruptions.
• Maintains compliance with PA processes, tracks eligibility, and supports training of new team members in the designated clinical area.
