Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to coordinate medication access and remove barriers to treatment. You will communicate with prescribers, submit prescriptions for prior authorization, and enroll patients in financial assistance programs to ensure timely delivery of medications.

You will collaborate with pharmacists, insurance providers, and case management to optimize patient care, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of PAPs and related resources.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in medical/secretarial field and 4 years of relevant experience required.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician program (PTCB) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages medication coordination and removal of barriers to medications.
• Submits prescriptions to the patient’s insurance for prior authorization.
• Enrolls patients in PAPs and follows up on application status and documentation.
• Coordinates communication between patient, pharmacist, insurance, and staff for coordinated care.
• Maintains expertise on PAPs, grants, foundations, and coupons for high-cost drugs.
