Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an Intern Pharmacist to assist in dispensing, compounding, and procuring pharmacy products under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You will consult with patients and medical personnel on medication therapy and provide information and product identification.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with laws, documenting prescriptions, interviewing patients, and supporting clinical pharmaceutical care across hospital and ambulatory settings.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written English-speaking communication skills.
• Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations and standards regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services.
• Ability to extract pertinent information from the patient or other sources and relate it to the patients medical management plan.
• Ability to learn and operate pharmacy computer systems and other equipment.

Responsibilities

• Dispesnes, compounds, procures, stores and distributes pharmacy products according to laws and policies.
• Interviews patients to obtain information regarding medication use and allergies; documents in the medical record.
• Advises patients on use, storage, and precautions for medications; coordinates medication therapy with diet.
• Substitutes for pharmacy personnel as necessary.
• Confers with medical personnel regarding pharmaceutical care and treatment; suggests changes to optimize therapy.
