Job summary

Optum's Genoa Healthcare internship offers hands-on experience in a pharmacy care services setting, serving behavioral health and addiction treatment communities. You will work within a coordinated care team to ensure correct medications and adherence to treatment plans, gaining practical exposure to in-clinic pharmacy services and PHI handling.

The role requires current PharmD enrollment, intern licensure, and U.S. work eligibility.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.
• Active licensure as a pharmacist intern or equivalent as required by the state Board of Pharmacy.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
• Completion of at least one Therapeutics Course (preferred)
• 3.5+ cumulative GPA (preferred)
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology (preferred)
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills (preferred)
• Proven solid oral and written communication skills (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Distribute drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners
• Provide information to customers about medications and their use
• Perform clerical duties such as filing patient records and processing insurance claims
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws of the applicable State Board of Pharmacy
• Administration of immunizations as allowed by state boards of pharmacy
• Any other usual and customary pharmacy duties
• Exhibit professional behavior and communication reflecting superior customer service
• Maintain safe, secure workspace and alert leadership to any safety concerns
• Comply with Board of Pharmacy policies and other regulations
• Protect patient PHI in accordance with HIPAA standards
