Job summary

Optum's Genoa Healthcare internship program offers PharmD students a collaborative, patient-centered experience within behavioral health care. You’ll work on real assignments, gain practical duties, and learn to navigate regulatory requirements while contributing to a care-first team.

The internship emphasizes hands-on pharmacy duties, patient interaction, and adherence to HIPAA in a fast-paced health system environment. Albany/clinical settings are supported with training and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited PharmD program.
• Active licensure as a pharmacist intern or equivalent as required by the state Board.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Distribute drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners.
• Provide information to customers about medications and their use.
• Perform clerical duties such as filing patient records and processing insurance claims.
• Ensure compliance with State Board of Pharmacy laws.
• Administer immunizations as allowed by state boards of pharmacy.
• Uphold company commitments to superior customer service.
• Maintain safe, secure workspace and report safety issues to leadership.
• Comply with Pharmacy Board and regulatory policies.
• Protect patient PHI in accordance with HIPAA.
