Job summary

St. Mary Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a Pharmacist to provide essential weekend coverage every other Saturday and Sunday. You will work within a small interdisciplinary team, independently managing weekend pharmacy operations after onboarding.

Ideal candidates have hospital pharmacy experience and a PharmD or BS Pharm with licensure, with onboarding support provided to ensure confidence and preparation for weekend duties.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy; BS Pharm or PharmD required; accredited clinical residency or BCPS certification preferred.
  • Current state license to practice pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Verify physician medication orders with accuracy and timeliness; clarify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor and evaluate medication management processes (selection, storage, ordering/transcribing, preparation/dispensing, administration) for quality and safety.
  • Verify and approve work by Pharmacy Technicians; provide coaching and feedback.
  • Order, receive, and store medications to maintain integrity and compliance.
  • Review patient-specific drug therapy for indications, dosing, interactions, and contraindications; document interventions.
  • Perform anticoagulant monitoring and communicate dose/therapy recommendations per protocol or provider order.

We offer customized, individualized rehabilitation tailored to the specific needs of those recovering from a stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury.

How you’ll contribute

We are seeking a pharmacist to provide essential weekend coverage every other Saturday and Sunday. This is an excellent opportunity for pharmacists who enjoy autonomy, collaboration with a small interdisciplinary team, and a predictable schedule. Weekend pharmacy services are provided by a single on‑duty pharmacist at a 50-bed St. Mary Rehabilitation Hospital. After a thorough training and orientation period, the weekend pharmacist will independently manage pharmacy operations for the hospital. Prior hospital pharmacy experience is strongly preferred, but supportive onboarding will be provided to ensure the candidate feels confident and prepared

Qualifications and requirements
Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy; BS Pharm or PharmD required; accredited clinical residency or BCPS certification preferred.

Licensure:

Current state license to practice pharmacy.

Experience:

Two (2) years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

About the position
  • Verify physician medication orders with accuracy and timeliness; clarify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the critical processes of medication management (e.g., selection, storage, ordering/transcribing, preparation/dispensing, administration support, and monitoring); identify risk points and drive continuous quality and performance improvement with clinicians.
  • Verify and approve work performed by Pharmacy Technician(s); provide coaching and feedback.
  • Order, receive, and store medications to maintain integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Review patient‑specific drug therapy for indications, dosing, interactions, contraindications, and duplication; promote rational, evidence-based therapy and document interventions.
  • Perform anticoagulant monitoring and communicate dose/therapy recommendations per protocol or provider order.
