Actalent seeks a licensed Pharmacist for a contract role in North Chicago, IL. The Pharmacist reviews prescriptions, ensures accuracy, and guides staff in dispensing. Responsibilities include QA procedures, controlled substance security, and patient counseling on interactions and dosages. Training interns may be required.

Experience in retail pharmacy is preferred; the position is fully onsite with an 8-hour shift (rotating every two weeks) and potential overtime depending on business needs.

Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Description

As a Pharmacist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications. Your expertise will be utilized in reviewing prescriptions for accuracy, determining necessary formulas and ingredients, and providing essential information to customers regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage. You will also be responsible for maintaining quality assurance procedures, securing controlled substances, and managing hazardous waste disposal.

Responsibilities

• Review prescriptions issued by physicians or authorized prescribers to ensure accuracy and determine necessary formulas and ingredients.
• Direct pharmacy staff in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Provide information and answer questions for pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain established procedures for quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
• Enter data such as patient names, prescribed medications, and costs to maintain pharmacy files and inventory.
• Assay medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
• Instruct interns and other medical personnel on pharmacy-related matters.

Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment

This position is located in a distribution area, requiring candidates to be comfortable standing for extended periods. While there is no heavy lifting involved, you may need to push carts weighing up to 30 lbs every few hours. The work schedule includes an 8-hour shift, rotating every two weeks, with potential hours between 7:00 am and 7:30 pm. The initial training schedule is from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime is not mandatory but may be offered based on business needs. Interaction with patients and providers is not expected initially but may occur in the future.

This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
