Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Pharmacy Technician/Patient Care Coordinator for a hybrid role in the NW suburbs with onsite training and a transition to hybrid work. The role focuses on supporting specialty medications, coordinating shipments, and ensuring timely delivery with strong patient service.

Ideal candidates will have an Illinois license, CPhT, at least 1 year of experience, and excellent communication skills. The position offers competitive pay and benefits during the contract-to-hire period.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License and CPhT certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.
• High School Diploma or GED and strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate medication shipments and refill requests with patients and caregivers.
• Build compassionate relationships through outstanding customer service.
• Support medication adherence and help patients stay on therapy.
• Process new prescription orders and refill requests.
• Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and payment options.
• Document patient information, concerns, and treatment updates.
• Coordinate with pharmacists, nurses, providers, and physicians offices.
• Track shipments, deliveries, and order status updates.
• Maintain accurate records throughout prescription fulfillment.
• Assist with pharmacy operations and medication fulfillment activities.
• Utilize pharmacy systems and Microsoft Excel to support workflow management and reporting.
• Ensure patients receive medications and supplies accurately and on time.

What You'll Do As a Patient Care Coordinator/Pharmacy Technician, you'll serve as a trusted resource for patients receiving specialty medications by:

• Contacting patients and caregivers to coordinate medication shipments and refill requests

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Solid attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialty pharmacy experience
• Patient access or reimbursement experience
• Prior authorization knowledge
• Call center experience

Work Environment & Schedule This position begins with onsite training in the NW suburbs of Chicago. Once training is successfully completed, team members transition into a hybrid schedule. Training Schedule:

• Monday-Friday
• 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
• Regular Schedule:
• Monday-Friday
• Schedules can vary between 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM

Hybrid Model:

• 2 days onsite
• 3 days remote

Pay:

• $23-$25/hr

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
