Job summary

Rush University Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacist to support the Pharmacy department in a centralized or satellite operation. The position may require day, evening, or overnight shifts, depending on training and skill level, and involves central pharmacy order verification, IV therapy oversight, and TPN responsibilities.

The role includes reviewing Epic orders for accuracy, assisting with dose checks, and communicating with nursing and medical staff.

Qualifications

• One year hospital pharmacy experience required.
• Must be licensed or license-eligible in Illinois.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand workflows within the central pharmacy and Pyxis ordering.
• Verify Epic orders for accuracy, safety, and dosing.
• Review medication orders for appropriateness and interactions.
• Clarify orders with prescribers when needed and provide pharmacotherapy recommendations.
• Document clinical interventions and ensure policy compliance.
• Support Central Pharmacy and Tower pharmacies operations and staffing.
• Assist with technician leadership during shift changes and absences.
• Contribute to quality initiatives within the department.
