Job summary

Rush University Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I to assist licensed pharmacists in preparing, labeling, and dispensing medications for a diverse patient population.

The role emphasizes accurate EPIC labeling, Pyxis restocks, and adherence to safety standards, with opportunities to support a full pharmacy workflow and participate in continual learning within the Rush system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current PTCB Certification (CPhT) required and/or EXCPT.
• Grandfathered licensed technicians may continue without new certification if licensed before 2008.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work up to 10% travel and extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacists with medication preparation, labeling and dispensing.
• Support neonatal to geriatric patient care as assigned.
• Follow EPIC labeling and pharmacy workflow for doses, Pyxis refills and batches.
• Handle medication returns and disposal per policy.
• Maintain accurate inventory and Pyxis restocks; troubleshoot equipment.
