Job summary

Greene County Health Care seeks a Pharmacist to oversee daily operations of the pharmacy department. The role ensures safe dispensing, regulatory compliance and collaboration with clinicians to optimize patient care.

You will manage prescriptions, supervise staff in absence of the pharmacy manager, and participate in quality improvement initiatives, 340B program coordination and vendor relationships. This on-site position requires NC licensure, a Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy.
• Current licensure as a Pharmacist in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
• Current BLS certification.
• Possesses knowledge of the 340B program, state, federal and third-party regulations relating to pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

• Processes patient prescriptions and manages daily pharmacy operations.
• Interprets, packs, labels and dispenses prescriptions; administers and distributes drugs.
• Assists patients at prescription drop off and pick up areas and disburses completed and confirmed prescriptions to patients.
• Assists with staff training.
• Ensures all payments are reconciled and submitted to the finance department.
• Coordinates maintenance of pharmacy environment, including cleanliness and neatness.
• Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient care.
• Represents the pharmacy in meetings when needed.
• Collaborates with practitioners to provide consults on drug information and patient education.
• Assists practitioners in assessing patient information for correct medication orders.
• Enhances professional growth through internal in-service meetings and continuing education.
• Provides updates and recommendations to clinicians during practitioner meetings.
• Supports administrative supervision of the pharmacy department.
• Assists with purchase of drugs, supplies and pharmaceuticals.
• Maintains relationships with external stakeholders and vendors.
• Maintains inventory processes including ordering, returns, restocking and managing outdated medications.
• Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for pharmacy practice and operations (340B, NC Board of Pharmacy, DEA, Medicaid).
• Maintains compliance with policies and changes in laws and accreditation standards.
• Participates in quality metrics directives and QI projects.
• Reads emails and complies with Clinical Quality Measures expectations.
• Uses resources to verify standards of care and modifies workflows to attain QI objectives.
• Documents activities related to QI projects.
• Provides management to department staff in absence of pharmacy manager.
