Job summary

Bayer AG is seeking a field-based maintenance operations specialist to coordinate contractor activities, develop preventive maintenance strategies, and support GMP and environmental compliance in a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.

You will work with maintenance and production teams to optimize equipment availability, perform data-driven improvements, and ensure accurate documentation in CMMS systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent certification with 6+ years of work experience, including 3+ years in maintenance within a regulated environment.
• Experience coordinating or supervising contractor/vendor work activities in the field.
• Hands-on familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Trims) for work order creation, updates, and closure.
• Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA, and environmental compliance in pharmaceutical settings.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work systems (hot work, confined space, LOTO, line break).
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, manuals, and job plans.
• Strong communication and coordination skills across planning, engineering, craft, and operations.
• Field presence and accountability to ensure work is completed to spec.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders, job plans, permits, and readiness to ensure maintenance activities are prepared.
• Coordinate equipment downtime, parts staging, and site readiness.
• Lead pre-job safety briefings and verify required permits and controls.
• Provide field oversight to ensure compliance with plans, safety standards, GMP, and environmental expectations.
• Act as liaison among craft, operations, and engineering; monitor progress and escalate issues.
• Verify completion to specification and close out permits and punch lists.
• Support continuous improvement and small maintenance projects.
• Assist with investigations and CAPA-related actions with field information.
