Job summary

County Public Health is hiring a PH Registered Nurse 3 to support the Perinatal Home Visiting Program in Fayetteville, GA. You will provide professional nursing care, perform assessments, develop care plans, and educate families within established protocols.

Requirements include GA RN licensure, CPR, and experience (2 years for Level 3 or 1 year for Level 2) with PHN course completion within one year of hire. This is a day shift located in District 4 Public Health, Fayette County.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required (PHN course within 1 year if applicable).
• Bachelor's degree in nursing with Georgia RN license and CPR certification preferred.
• 2 years of nursing experience for PH Registered Nurse Level 3 OR 1 year for Level 2, plus PHN course within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care per nurse protocols and procedures.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments for all ages.
• Develop care plans based on assessments and protocols.
• Educate clients and families; document care in EMR; participate in public health emergencies.

Job Description

Under broad supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols. All District 4 Public Health, County BOH employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Distribution site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Job Responsibilities

• Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures.
• Provides comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
• Functions as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
• Develops care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
• Focus’ on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
• Serves as patient advocate and refers patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
• Utilizes Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
• Administers and dispenses medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
• Provides education to clients, families, and community partners.
• Incorporates strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds e.g. cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities.
• Prepares to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
• Assists with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
• Uses individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

• PH Registered Nurse Level 2 - (Annual Salary - $58,547.06) Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certification OR One year of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190).
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification.
• PH Registered Nurse Level 3 - (Annual Salary - $66,168.17) Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within One year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification OR Two years of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 2 (HCP191).
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Public Health Nursing Experience. Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.
