Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health in Walton County is seeking a compassionate Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to deliver advanced nursing and comprehensive, patient-centered care with a focus on family planning and women’s health.

The APRN will work under a physician nurse protocol, maintain detailed documentation, collaborate with a public health team, and participate in training for IUD and Nexplanon procedures, with no weekends or on-call rotation

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing and APRN licensure in Georgia.
  • Currently licensed as RN and APRN in Georgia with CPR certification.
  • Certification in the specialty area(s) approved by GA Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care and healthcare services per nurse protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations.
  • Counsel and educate patients on health conditions, treatment options, prevention, and reproductive health.
  • Diagnose and treat patients within APRN scope and established protocols.
  • Provide family planning and women’s health services.
  • Insert and manage IUDs and Nexplanon implants.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.

The Northeast Health District is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join the Walton County Health Department.

This position provides advanced nursing and healthcare services across public health programs, with a primary focus on family planning and women’s health. The APRN will work under a nurse protocol agreement with a delegating physician and provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals within the community.

Work Schedule: Monday 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Tuesday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. | No weekends or on-call rotation

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care and healthcare services in accordance with established nurse protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations.
  • Counsel and educate patients regarding health conditions, treatment options, preventive care, and reproductive health.
  • Diagnose and treat patients within the APRN scope of practice and established protocols.
  • Provide family planning and women’s health services.
  • Insert and manage intrauterine devices (IUDs) and Nexplanon contraceptive implants.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the public health team to coordinate patient care.

No previous IUD or Nexplanon insertion experience? Training will be provided for qualified candidates who do not have prior experience performing these procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Master\'s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing and Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse and Georgia license as an APRN and CPR certification.
