Job summary

University of Michigan Health Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI seeks a CEC Specialist to help build a formal training program for PFS Associates and support Admitting. You will help develop billing training and competency tests.

Under supervision, you will train staff on accurate claims submission, analyze payer Bulletins, and present updates to departments. This full-time role emphasizes education and process improvement within the health system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in related revenue cycle position.
• High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
• Knowledge of billing regulations and information systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in training/education preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive billing and compliance training program for PFS Associates, both existing and new.
• Train new and existing Associates on accurate claims submission to all insurance carriers.
• Analyze program memorandums and provider bulletins for necessary changes in billing procedures.
• Develop and recommend to the CEC written departmental billing policy and procedures consistent with the department compliance plan and payer regulations.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a competency test for PFS Associates in order to evaluate knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures, and billing compliance.
• Attend meetings and present information to Departments within the health system as required.
• Develop and coordinate job shadowing with new PFS, Customer Services, Admitting, and Financial Counseling Associates.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and present updates with CEC as required.
• Assist in the production of the PFS Newsletter.
• Fill in, as required, for special A/R and billing projects or staff vacancies as determined by the PFS leadership
