Job summary

Atlas Copco is seeking an experienced Automation Controls Engineer to support programming, commissioning, and optimization of PF8 torque controllers at the Decatur facility. The role requires hands-on PF8 expertise, tuning control strategies, and seamless integration with PLCs, MES, and plant networks to ensure production readiness.

Responsibilities include configuring controllers, developing tightening strategies, supporting production startup, and documenting all configurations and procedures

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Atlas Copco PF8 controllers.
• Strong understanding of torque-controlled assembly processes.
• Experience with ATP and Reject Management software.
• Ability to create and modify tightening strategies and jobs.
• Experience with industrial communications and manufacturing system integration.
• Ability to work independently with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Configure, program, and commission Atlas Copco PF8 controllers.
• Develop and validate tightening strategies, PSETs, jobs, and multi-step fastening sequences.
• Perform Advanced Tool Programming (ATP) configuration and optimization.
• Configure and support Reject Management functionality, including repair/rework workflows and traceability requirements.
• Integrate torque systems with PLCs, barcode scanners, MES, and plant networks.
• Troubleshoot controller, tool, communication, and process-related issues.
• Support runoff, launch activities, operator training, and production startup.
• Document controller configurations, process settings, and troubleshooting procedures.
