Job summary

Atlas Copco Assembly Systems LLC in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a Field Service Automation Engineer to program, commission, and install automated solutions from the Application Center North America. You will collaborate with the automation team during concept and design, then support field installation and commissioning at customer sites.

Responsibilities include on-site checks, PLC/HMI programming across Rockwell and Siemens, cobot integration, testing, debugging, and remote support.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics or equivalent with 5+ years of experience.
Experience with cobot integration.
Experience with multiple control architectures (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.).
Experience developing PLC logic and HMIs from scratch.
Understanding of industrial communication protocols and architecture.
Experience commissioning small automated cells at customer sites.
Understanding of machine safety standards.
Approx. 50% travel within the US.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with automation project team (PM, Controls, Mechanical, Design, Production).
Perform on-site field checks of existing equipment when required.
Program and debug PLCs and HMIs for Atlas Copco and third-party products.
Test and debug products before shipment.
Program and debug projects at customer facilities.
Provide remote support to field installation technicians.
