Pets Are Family Pet Sitting Services LLC in Alexandria, VA is seeking dedicated pet sitters and dog walkers to join our growing team. This part-time role focuses on caring for dogs, cats, and other small pets, with a target of 30–35 hours per week when available and room to take on leadership duties as you prove reliability.

Fully trained sitters are paid hourly, typically $22–$25 per hour, with tips and holiday bonuses.

Qualifications

• You love working with animals and are passionate about their welfare.
• You are comfortable feeding, walking, and playing with pets.
• You can commit to at least 6 months.
• You are available to work at least 2 weekends a month.
• You can work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year.
• You have strong communication skills and provide excellent customer service.
• You can document daily activities and report any unusual behavior to the supervisor.
• You have a reliable car and live within 5 miles of the work location in Alexandria.
• You have a reliable smartphone compatible with our software and photo capture.
• You can pass a criminal/vehicle background check.
• You are at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.

Our ideal candidate has previous experience walking dogs and care for cats professionally, has an understanding of canine and feline body language, and is interested in working with dogs & cats that are reactive or may behavioral challenges. Previous experience using Time to Pet is a plus but not required. Fear Free certification is a plus but not required.

Additional Information

• Available at minimum Wednesday through Sundays.
• Visits for dogs are minimally three times a day- Mornings, midday walks, and evening visits
• Visit times for cats are either once or twice daily (one AM visit and one PM visit) for either a 15 or 30-minute visit.

Requirements For This Position

• You love working with animals and are passionate about their welfare!
• You love both cats and dogs! You are comfortable feeding, walking, and playing with pets according to their individual needs. You are able to monitor the behavior and health of the pets and report any concerns to the supervisor.
• You can make a 6 month commitment to working for the company. Clients who travel regularly prefer to have a relationship the same sitter or combination of two sitters.
• You have consistent availability and are available to work at least 2 weekends a month.
• You are able to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve & Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day (Don't worry! You'll be able to have a holiday too, and you'll be paid more per visit during this time.)
• You have strong communication skills (both orally and in writing) and you have the ability to provide exceptional customer service to our pets' guardians by promptly addressing any questions and concerns.
• You can document daily activities and report any unusual behavior or incidents to both the company and the pets' guardians.
• You have a reliable car and live in or very close (within 5 miles) to the community where you will work.
• You have a reliable smartphone that can support our company's software and takes clear photos.
• You can pass a criminal /vehicle background check.
• You are at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate.

Hours/Pay:

Fully trained and certified Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers are paid hourly which averages $22-25/hr. with tips and holiday bonus pay per visit. Employees receive ongoing, paid professional development and training. Candidates with documented prior experience and Fear Free Certification are eligible for higher pay and additional benefits.
