Job summary

Pet Paradise is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Austin, Texas area to lead daily resort operations and support the Resort Manager. You will oversee staff, schedules, training, and guest services to ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for pets and their families.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in supervision, strong leadership and communication skills, and a background in hospitality or animal care.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in a supervisory or management role
• High school diploma required; college degree preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with ability to manage, guide, train, and motivate employees
• Ability to resolve conflict, build relationships, and engage with customers
• Detail-oriented and results-driven with goals in mind
• Ability to develop and train staff using appropriate skills
• Prior leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality operations or similar
• Experience in animal care or related field preferred
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and able to lift up to 60 lbs
• Comfortable working in front of house and back of house roles
• Flexibility to hotel schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays
• Valid driver’s license and working vehicle

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and maintain standards of conduct, cleanliness, and safety
• Manage resort labor: schedule creation, timecard reviews, and labor hours alignment
• Coordinate recruitment with operations management and HR; interview and onboarding
• Supervise, train, and coach staff; identify high performers and grow talent
• motivate staff to deliver premier service for pet guests and parents
• Foster open communication with regional and corporate teams
• Support training and completion of required courses for staff
• Document and deliver corrective actions and terminations when needed
• Maintain inventory of supplies, conduct walk-throughs, and manage MOD duties
• Maintain high customer service metrics and address customer concerns professionally
• Develop methods to increase sales, promote new business, and retain customers
• Perform resort opening/closing duties and other assigned tasks
• Maintain 5-day workweeks onsite; work 3–4 weekend days/month and holidays
