PET/CT Technologist - PMOB Radiation Oncology - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)
Join the team at Keck Medicine of USC as a PET/CT Technologist. This full-time position involves supporting radiologists in high-quality radionuclide imaging, CT, and lab procedures, ensuring excellent patient care.
Essential Duties
- Coordinate patient procedures and manage departmental activities.
- Apply knowledge of physics, scanning techniques, and computer science related to nuclear medicine and CT.
- Operate PET and CT equipment and related software proficiently.
- Handle radioactive isotopes safely, including ordering, preparation, administration, and documentation.
- Perform calculations and analyze test results accurately.
- Conduct equipment inspections, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate maintenance.
- Ensure procedures are tailored to patient age and condition.
- Verify patient identity and review orders for safety and appropriateness.
- Recognize emergencies and respond appropriately.
- Maintain sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination.
- Document patient information, complete paperwork, and assist with billing.
- Prepare reports and manage isotope documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Prepare examinations for radiologist review.
- Maintain a clean and stocked work environment.
- Perform additional duties such as scheduling, quality control, and transport as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiography program with proper licensing/certification.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in nuclear medicine and CT.
Licenses/Certifications
- PET/CT Technologist certification.
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CA DPH or NMTCB or ARRT), or Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (CA or ARRT), with PET certification if applicable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire if applicable.
The hourly rate ranges from $53.00 to $87.45. Compensation considers experience, education, skills, and market factors.
