Job Overview
Apply Keck Medicine of USC Hospital in Pasadena, California. As part of the Imaging Services Team, the PET/CT Technologist supports radiologists in performing high-quality radionuclide imaging, CT, and lab procedures to ensure excellent patient care. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties
- Organize, plan, and direct patient procedures within the designated area.
- Demonstrate knowledge of physics principles, scanning techniques, and computer science related to nuclear scanning and CT.
- Operate PET equipment, CT, and related software proficiently.
- Handle radioactive isotopes safely, including ordering, preparation, administration, and documentation.
- Calculate and analyze test results using appropriate tools.
- Perform equipment inspections, quality checks, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate service calls.
- Plan procedures considering patient age and condition.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, technique, and identification according to protocols; use immobilization devices as needed.
- Verify patient identity using hospital identifiers.
- Review patient information, physician orders, and special instructions to ensure safety and appropriateness.
- Recognize emergency situations and administer aid accordingly.
- Practice sterile technique and prevent cross-contamination.
- Document patient information accurately and complete paperwork; assist with billing.
- Manage reports and isotope documentation in compliance with regulations and safety standards.
- Prepare examinations for radiologist interpretation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work environment.
- Perform additional duties such as scheduling, quality control, transport, and clerical tasks as needed.
- Assist with supply ordering and inventory management.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiography program with required licenses/certifications.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and in CT imaging.
Licenses and Certifications
- PET/CT Technologist certification.
- Certifications depending on educational background (e.g., NMTCB, ARRT, CA DPH).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City), or obtain within 30 days if required.
Additional Details
The hourly rate ranges from $53.00 to $87.45. USC considers various factors in employment offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
