Job Overview

Apply Keck Medicine of USC Hospital in Pasadena, California. As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients participating in radiation therapy in an outpatient setting. The RN assesses patient needs, manages side effects, and emphasizes patient education throughout treatment and recovery. Flexibility to cover satellite clinics and perform other duties as assigned is required.

Essential Duties
  • Participates in departmental process improvement projects.
  • Supports hospital-wide service excellence standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with management on radiology and special procedure flow issues.
  • Manages inventory and ensures cost-effective use of supplies and equipment.
  • Completes skills validations annually.
  • Acts as a patient advocate, directing patients to resources, support groups, and educational materials.
  • Performs nursing assessments and screening upon patient arrival.
  • Plans patient testing and treatment in coordination with physicians.
  • Continuously evaluates patient care and satisfaction.
  • Educates patients and families about procedures and treatments, documenting outcomes.
  • Accurately documents procedures and patient responses in charts or EMR.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development.
  • Orients and instructs other staff members, serving as a role model.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Formulates nursing diagnoses based on assessments.
  • Conducts comprehensive nursing exams and health histories for new and reassessed patients.
  • Ensures continuity of care across care settings.
  • Provides age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development.
  • Adheres to ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows procedures for capturing patient care charges.
  • Complies with safety, waste management, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Participates in process improvements and data collection.
  • Prioritizes and organizes workflow effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN), or grandfathered from BSN if hired before 12/2019.
  • Minimum one year of oncology nursing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire, if applicable.

The hourly rate range is $53.00 - $87.45. USC considers various factors when extending offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
