Job summary

Barkers Hotel & Purrington Inn is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist to warmly welcome our furry guests and their humans, and to ensure smooth front desk operations. You’ll handle reservations, check-ins/outs, and maintain pet records in a fast-paced, affectionate environment.

Ideal candidates are reliable, tech-savvy, and calm under pressure, with strong communication and organizational skills. Veterinary or pet-care experience is a plus, and weekend availability is often required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of receptionist or customer service experience preferred.
• Experience in veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or pet care is a plus.
• Tech-savvy with scheduling software; MS Word & Excel skills are a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and pets warmly in person and on the phone.
• Answer questions about services (boarding, daycare, grooming).
• Schedule reservations and appointments using management software.
• Guide pet parents through check-in/check-out procedures.
• Update and maintain pet medical/vaccination records.
• Keep client/pet records organized and accurate.
• Process payments and issue receipts.
• Prepare and file intake forms and boarding agreements.
• Respond to emails and inquiries promptly.
