Job summary

The Kansas Humane Society is seeking a Part Time Adoption Counselor who loves helping animals and people. You will greet visitors, counsel adopters, and guide them through the adoption process with empathy and clear information.

Responsibilities include supporting pre-adoption activities, coordinating animal visits, and promoting responsible pet ownership. A high school diploma and compassion for animals are essential; experience with dogs and cats is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous animal handling experience with dogs and cats preferred.
• Background in caregiving or customer service.
• Respect for the human–animal bond is a must.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming, high quality customer service to adopters and donors.
• Counsel potential adopters on pet selection and needs through open-ended dialogue.
• Assist with pre-adoption, animal visiting, and adoption completion processes.
• Support special adoption events and ongoing adopter education.
• Maintain knowledge on pet enrichment and health for animals in adoption area.
