Job Description
Location: Alexandria, VA - May occasionally be required to work at an Arlington Office.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing casework for preliminary vetting requests, including reviewing questionnaires, security forms, background checks, credit reports, and other relevant reports.
- Performing background investigation checks and assessing risk, integrity, fitness, and suitability issues, updating case summaries accordingly.
- Reviewing security paperwork for accuracy and authenticity.
- Conducting investigative checks such as Personnel Investigation Processing System, Credit checks, FBI Fingerprint checks, and others.
- Safeguarding sensitive information, including Privacy Act Protected Information and PII.
- Working within business processing systems, updating the eWORKS personnel security database, and uploading relevant documents.
- Researching, reviewing, and analyzing personnel security information for case summaries.
- Providing customer service, including preparing emails, memos, Letters of Interrogatory, Letters of Advisement, and Conditional Approval Letters.
- Managing caseloads to meet deadlines.
- Assisting federal staff with administrative tasks related to personnel security.
Required Experience
Personnel Security Specialist II
- At least 4 years of experience in security administration, background investigations, physical security, or related private sector security experience.
- At least 2.5 years of experience in case work using guidelines such as 5 C.F.R. part 731, 1400, and executive orders 10450, 12968, and 13764.
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Experience with business processing systems, preferably eWorks.
- Experience communicating with customers and drafting official correspondence.
- FDIC support experience is highly desirable.
Personnel Security Specialist I
- At least 2 years of experience in security administration or related fields.
- At least 1 year of experience in researching and analyzing background investigation materials.
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Experience with personnel security case management systems, preferably eWorks.
- Knowledge of security regulations and executive orders.
- FDIC support experience is highly desirable.
