Job summary

Hensley Legal Group is seeking an experienced associate attorney to manage personal injury litigation from filing through resolution or trial in Northwest Indiana. You will work directly with clients and have dedicated paralegal support to build strategic case narratives.

You will handle depositions, negotiations, and courtroom advocacy, with opportunities to grow your trial skills and make a meaningful impact on clients during challenging times.

Qualifications

• J.D. is required and must be in good standing.
• Active Indiana license to practice law is required.
• Experience in personal injury litigation is preferred.
• Strong legal writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy are essential.
• Trial experience or a willingness to develop trial skills is important.
• Ability to take ownership of cases and communicate effectively with clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own personal injury litigation caseload from filing through resolution or trial.
• Develop case strategy and evaluate liability, damages, and case value.
• Communicate directly with clients and guide them through litigation.
• Handle discovery, motions, pleadings, and other litigation tasks.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Collaborate with medical providers, witnesses, and experts to build evidence.
• Attend mediations and negotiate settlements.
• Prepare cases for trial and advocate in court when needed.
• Partner with a paralegal to move cases forward and keep clients informed.

At Hensley Legal Group, our attorneys take ownership of their own personal injury caseloads, work directly with clients, and have the support and resources needed to take cases from filing through resolution—and to trial when that's what the case demands.

You own your cases. You'll serve as the lead attorney on your own personal injury litigation caseload from filing through resolution or trial.

What You'll Do

• Manage your own personal injury litigation caseload from filing through resolution or trial
• Develop case strategy and evaluate liability, damages, and case value
• Communicate directly with clients and guide them through the litigation process
• Handle written and oral discovery, motions, pleadings, and other litigation matters
• Take and defend depositions
• Work with medical providers, witnesses, and expert professionals to develop evidence
• Attend mediations and negotiate settlements
• Prepare cases for trial and advocate for your clients in the courtroom when needed
• Partner with your paralegal to keep cases moving and clients informed

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor (J.D.)
• Active law license in good standing in Indiana
• Litigation experience; personal injury experience strongly preferred
• Strong legal writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills
• Trial experience or a genuine desire to build and sharpen your trial skills
Strong judgment, accountability, and ability to take ownership of your cases
• Client-first mindset and strong communication skills
• Indiana and Illinois licenses are a plus
• Bilingual skills are a plus

Schedule: Full-time. Attorneys should expect a minimum 40-hour workweek, with additional time as needed to meet client and case demands.
