Job description

Position Overview

This position will provide coverage in short‑term, surge, and on‑demand situations resulting from military needs such as post‑deployment events or to cover an existing assignment for counselors who are absent.

Responsibilities
  • Provide full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
  • Conduct one‑on‑one counseling, consultations with commanders or other providers, briefings and presentations, and referral to outside resources.
  • Work closely with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure the program meets the needs of the installation.
  • Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences and develop informational financial materials.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and deliver personal financial management classes and workshops on topics across the military lifecycle, including arrivals, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and personal and career events as outlined in DoDI1322.34.
  • Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure online chat, video‑based communications, secure video teleconference) as authorized by OSDFINRED Program office.
  • Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership, participate in regular individual and group supervision, and share information on trends and issues.
  • Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required. Associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation.
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Salary

Salary Minimum: $58,440Salary Maximum: $93,500. This reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. The position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
