Job summary

AltaMed is seeking a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) II to assist with ADLs/IADLs for PACE participants across centers, homes, and virtual settings. The role supports care coordination, collaborates with IDT, and adapts to participant needs to promote independence and well-being.

Required CNA education and California certifications, bilingual abilities, and a valid BLS. Compensation ranges from $25.00 to $29.32 per hour with benefits and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Aide education and training.
• High school diploma required or some college education/credits preferred.
• California Food Handler Certificate of Achievement upon employment preferred, must be attained within 30 days of employment.
• Prior experience with physically or mentally impaired older people preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese depending on location preferred.
• Experience working with the elderly patient population.
• Valid BLS certification or higher per AHA/Red Cross guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform and assist with personal care ADLs/IADLs for PACE participants across care delivery settings (center, home, or virtual).
• Support the PCA II role and assist with care coordination and reporting related to the plan of care.
• Collaborate with IDT members to address participant needs and goals of care.

Job Overview

The Personal Care Attendant (PCA) II will perform and assist with personal care ADLs/IADLs for participants in the PACE across all platforms of delivery of care, like center and/or in the home, or virtually. The PCA II must be able to perform the job duties of a PCA I if assigned. In addition, the PCA II supports the PCA III in the gathering and reporting information related to the care coordination, participants’ ability to engage, maintain/improve their ability, foster independence, maintain function, or improve socialization, or satisfaction. The PCA II communicates and collaborates with IDT members or other PACE staff in the goals of the plan of care, focusing on needs (like participant supplies or tools), health status, physical, and mental well-being.

Minimum Requirements

• Certified Nursing Aide education and training. Nurse Assistant Certificate by the State of California, Department of Health and Human Services-Aid and Technician Certification.

• High school diploma required or some college education/credits preferred.

• California Food Handler Certificate of Achievement upon employment preferred, must be attained within 30 days of employment.

• Prior experience working with physically or mentally impaired older people is strongly preferred.

• Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese, depending on location, preferred.

• Experience working with the elderly patient population.

• A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Compensation

$25.00 - $29.32 hourly
