Qualifications

• Provide feeding, oral hygiene, and transfers using assistive devices.
• Light housekeeping: laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping; maintain a safe environment.
• Adhere to personalized care plans and document care activities in electronic systems.
• Respect client privacy and report concerns to the supervisor; self-administer medications as directed (not administer).

Job description

The Personal Care Assistant role involves providing essential daily care to clients in-home, following personalized care plans and utilizing electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, grooming, ambulating, meal preparation (including special diets), feeding, oral hygiene, and transfers using assistive devices.

Additional duties may involve light housekeeping such as laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping, all while maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Candidates must have a high school diploma (preferred), at least 6 months caregiving experience with validated references, and be 18 years or older.

Key skills include compassion, attention to safety and infection control, confidentiality, and the ability to encourage client independence.

Assistants must respect client privacy, provide quality care within scope, and communicate any concerns regarding client safety or condition changes to the supervisor.

All staff are accountable to the Home Care Manager and staffing supervisor for care delivery and staffing issues.
