Position Summary

The Personal Banker plays a dual role within the banking center by providing both Teller and New Account services. Providing high quality customer service and a positive banking experience for all customers is essential in this role. The Personal Banker is responsible for opening and closing personal and commercial accounts, maintenance of accounts, processing teller transactions, which includes cashing checks, receiving and processing deposits, withdrawals, transfers, balancing teller cash drawer, answering phones, safe deposit entry, answering customer questions, resolving related account problems, and providing other assistance as requested. This position involves a high level of interaction with customers and employees and requires an ability to communicate effectively. Additionally, accurate and timely processing of transactions and requests in accordance with established teller policies and procedures is essential.

Responsibilities

New Accounts Duties And Responsibilities

• Be well versed in the Bank’s available products and services.
• Open and close accounts in the Business Process Manger software, including personal and business checking, savings, IRAs, and Certificates of Deposit.
• Discuss new account documentation with customers.
• Order checks and debit cards.
• Prepare documentation for new accounts under the Bank’s CIP/BSA policies.
• Follow up on requests from clients and loan officers promptly.
• Deposit funds received from customers and provide receipts.
• Execute wire transfers.
• Provide information regarding interest rates, charges, and other account details to customers.

Teller Duties And Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a cash drawer, process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and cash checks.
• Maintain accurate transaction records.
• Prepare daily ledger entries.
• Assist with vault functions and daily coin machine balancing.
• Help customers with product and service inquiries.
• Balance teller drawer daily and verify transaction accuracy.
• Promote and cross-sell the Bank’s products and services.
• Resolve customer problems effectively.
• Maintain positive relations with contacts and customers.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities

• Support the Bank’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
• Exhibit excellent communication, analysis, observation, and decision-making skills.
• Work effectively under high pressure and stressful situations.
• Comply with federal and state regulations and bank policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED plus at least one year of banking experience in new accounts, tellering, or lending.
• Minimum six months of cash handling experience.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in typing, computer use, and 10-key calculator.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to handle large amounts of currency accurately.
• Good problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work.
• Physical ability to stand most of the day and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Flexible working hours, Monday through Saturday, and physical presence at the bank.
