The role of the Personal Banker is to assist clients with both personal and business banking solutions that improve their financial health and help them reach their goals. A Personal Banker is creative and can “think outside the box” to provide relevant solutions to our clients, while maintaining our Vision, Mission, and Values.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build exceptional knowledge of bank products and services to maintain rapport with clients, understand their needs, and provide solutions.
2. Open new accounts, discuss and refer or originate loans, and onboard new clients.
3. Introduce and demonstrate digital and self-service options to clients.
4. Communicate clearly with staff and clients verbally, over the phone, and via video chat.
5. Serve as a concierge or greeter to clients.
6. Make out-of-office calls to businesses, community organizations, and referral sources.
7. Develop competencies and obtain certifications or registrations necessary to support branch performance goals.
8. Proactively accept initiatives and assignments.
9. Adhere to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations.
10. Reflect the core values and ethics of WaFd Bank, including integrity, teamwork, ownership, simplicity, discipline, service, and kindness.

Qualifications:

Education / Skills / Training:

1. High school diploma or approved equivalent.
2. Good math skills, including 10-key and keyboarding.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, Teams, PowerBI, and Outlook.
4. Strong smartphone and digital channel skills.
5. Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
6. Ability to use automated technology to teach clients self-service skills.
7. Must meet all requirements of the NMLS Registry.
8. Valid driver’s license, satisfactory transportation, and adequate insurance coverage.

Experience:

1. Prior banking experience, including familiarity with lending, retail, consumer service delivery, or client relations.
