  • Liaise with local, state, and federal agencies to understand permitting requirements and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Review project documents—including site plans, studies, and environmental reports—to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of permit statuses, project milestones, and agency communications within CRM or project management systems.
  • Monitor and update internal teams on evolving permitting requirements, industry trends, and regulatory changes relevant to project development.
  • Support due diligence, public meetings, and community engagement activities as needed for project approvals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with municipal staff, planning departments, and external consultants.
  • Troubleshoot permitting challenges, address corrections or deficiencies, and proactively prevent repeated rejections.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement by recommending and implementing changes to increase permitting efficiency.
  • Contribute to risk assessments by identifying permitting delays or challenges that may impact project schedules.
  • Take full ownership of your tasks and deliverables.
  • Align your work with company-wide priorities and goals.
  • Foster collaboration and accountability across internal teams and in other offices and ensure alignment with company objectives.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Urban Planning, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Additional training in project management, permitting processes, or relevant regulatory frameworks preferred.
  • Familiarity with permit tracking systems, CRM software, and document management platforms is advantageous.

Experience & Technical Skills:

  • 2–4 years of experience in permitting project coordination, environmental compliance, or related fields—preferably within renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting requirements for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, or storage).
  • Experience preparing technical documents, permit applications, and supporting documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with regulators and internal stakeholders.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable navigating cloud-based document management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing regulatory landscapes.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective and diplomatic communicator with an ability to build trust across teams and with external authorities.
  • Analytical thinker capable of interpreting complex regulations and identifying implications for project development.
  • Resourceful problem-solver with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Team player, collaborative and approachable.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong time-management skills with a focus on delivering results within tight timelines.
