Job summary

Brightsmith is seeking a Permitting Manager to lead environmental permitting, land use, and entitlement strategies for solar, BESS, and related electrical infrastructure, with a strong focus on California.

You will work with internal teams, consultants, and regulators to advance projects, manage schedules and budgets, and support M&A diligence while engaging stakeholders and agencies.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in land use permitting, environmental permitting, or project entitlements.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience managing consultants, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Our client is an established and growing developer, owner, and operator with an approximately 2 GW and growing pipeline of ground-mount, small utility-scale solar and BESS projects. The company is also expanding through buy-side M&A, EV/AV charging infrastructure, and data centers/powered land.

The Role

The Permitting Manager will support environmental permitting, land use, and entitlement strategies for solar, BESS, and other electrical infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on California.

This role will work closely with internal teams, outside consultants, and regulatory agencies to advance projects through the permitting process and support the company's growing development pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Support environmental permitting, land use, and project entitlements
• Assist with project siting and environmental due diligence
• Manage outside consultants and review technical deliverables
• Coordinate permitting applications and agency submittals
• Track project schedules, budgets, and permitting milestones
