Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Permitting Environmental Engineer for our Boise, Idaho office to lead multi‑media permitting and regulatory compliance projects. You will collaborate with senior technical staff to deliver high‑quality environmental solutions and manage client relationships.
You will mentor junior staff, prepare and review technical documents, and support business development while traveling as needed to support projects across the region.

Brown and Caldwell has an immediate opening for an Permitting Environmental Engineer to grow our Permitting and Compliance team based in Boise, Idaho. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who is actively engaged in environmental engineering to advance our relationship with strategic clients (both private sector and municipal) through multi-media permitting and operational compliance primarily in Idaho. This person can help us fulfill our commitment to deliver client success on each and every project we undertake. You will also work with nationally recognized, senior technical staff, as well as have the opportunity to supervise junior staff.
We are looking for a candidate with strong verbal and written communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines. This role offers a chance to mentor and lead more junior technical staff while making a significant impact on environmental management and regulatory compliance. Occasional travel may be required.
You will take the lead in managing and delivering environmental permitting and compliance projects with a focus on multi-media permitting, stormwater management, spill prevention, and operational regulatory compliance, with opportunities to contribute to business development initiatives and cultivate strong client relationships.
The Environmental Permitting Engineer independently performs a wide range of environmental engineering tasks associated with the analysis, planning, and development of solutions that promote environmental protection, water sustainability, and responsible resource management. Working with limited supervision, this role delivers technical work that improves environmental and public health outcomes across natural and engineered systems. This position addresses environmental and public health protection, mitigation, and prevention of degradation of water, soils, air quality, and habitats. This role may support multiple practice areas including water and wastewater treatment and conveyance, stormwater management, solid and hazardous waste management, and related disciplines. This role independently conducts analysis, modeling, and design of systems and produces engineering deliverables including reports, plans, specifications, and recommendations.
