Job summary

The City of Houston is hiring a Permit Technician Aide in the Houston Permitting Center, Occupancy Inspections. You will assist customers with permit applications, review documents, schedule inspections, and provide information on codes and procedures.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years’ experience in customer service (an Associate degree may substitute). Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Permit Technician Aide or in customer service.
• Associate degree may substitute for the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Accepts, reviews, and disseminates building permit applications and documents.
• Provides information on permit requirements, codes, ordinances and inspection procedures.
• Schedules inspections and answers inquiries in person, by phone, or via email.
• Maintains permit-related files and records and prepares documentation.
