Job summary

EmergencyMD is seeking a Permit Technician to join our Public Works team in Houston. You will support the public by phone, email and in person, coordinate permit processing, maintain official records and assist with adherence to operating policies.

You will schedule inspections, respond to inquiries, and help residents and contractors navigate the permitting process. A high school diploma or GED and two years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED and 2 years of related experience or equivalent.
• Proficient in customer service and communication.
• Familiar with filing, records, and basic office procedures.
• Ability to work with databases and permit software.

Responsibilities

• Schedule inspections and process permits and violations.
• Provide technical guidance to the public on planning and permitting matters.
• Support Chief Building Official with meetings, agendas, and records.
• Assist in building plan submissions and approvals processes.
• Update standard reports, forms, and case files.
• Operate and navigate online management systems.
