The City of Houston is hiring a Permit Technician Aide in the Houston Permitting Center, Occupancy Inspections. You will assist customers with permit applications, review documents, schedule inspections, and provide information on codes and procedures.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years’ experience in customer service (an Associate degree may substitute). Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.

Performs a variety of paraprofessional support involved in the acceptance, review, and dissemination of a wide variety of building permit applications and documents. Provides information to customers on building permit requirements, codes, ordinances and inspection procedures.
The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds. In the Houston Permitting Center, the position may require lifting of moderately heavy items, such as plans (up to 40 pounds).
Requires a high school diploma or a GED.
Two years of experience as a Permit Technician Aide or in customer service are required.
An Associate degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
