Job summary

City of Indianapolis and Marion County is seeking a supervisor for the permits section to ensure ILP, Structural, Sign, and Wrecking permits are assigned and processed in accordance with state and city codes.

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field with two years of relevant construction experience. Candidates must be able to public speak, review plans, and manage staff and complex permitting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years of directly related work experience in construction industry.
• A working knowledge of all applicable building codes and ordinances.
• Ability to prioritise and handle varied assignments and heavy workload.
• Must be able to public speak and make presentations.
• Ability to review plans, specifications and determine necessary permits required on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and assigns daily activities for Project Development Analyst.
• Reviews and verifies accuracy of permits issued to maintain consistency and correct errors.
• Supervises staff performance and coordinates corrective actions.
• Maintains and updates all ILP, Structural, Sign, and Wrecking permit review and issuance forms.
• Attends planning meetings to inform developers of development standards and commitments.
