Job summary

Mecklenburg County is seeking a detail-oriented paraprofessional to support residential project management, plan review, permitting and inspection activities. Under general supervision, you will schedule plan reviews, review permit packages for completeness, and facilitate permits through to close-out.

You will assist the public, contractors, and other stakeholders with inquiries, develop tracking systems, and provide front office support as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in the area of assignment.
• Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction, Surveying, or Real Estate.
• Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public, contractors, and/or other interested parties with inquiries related to residential construction, permit and bond processing.
• Schedule plan review projects or meetings and coordinate with departmental staff and external customers.
• Review permit applications and packages for completeness and facilitate permit issuance through to close-out.
• Develop and maintain tracking systems and generate reports.
• Provide front office support such as answering telephones and assisting customers in person.
