Job summary

Tupelo Public School District is seeking a Permanent Substitute to cover for absent teachers. The role requires a minimum of 60 college hours, with a Bachelor Degree preferred, and reports to the Principal or designee.

The incumbent will follow the lesson plans, maintain classroom routines, oversee student behavior, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reports to the building principal or designee.
• Reviews with principal or designee all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to be assigned.
• Teaches the lesson outlined as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consults with the principal or designee before initiating teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Guidebook.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and other activities.
• Reports relevant information to the principal or designee at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

To enable each child to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.

Performance Responsibilities

• Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival.
• Reviews with principal or designee all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintains as fully possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to be assigned.
• Teaches the lesson outlined as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consults as appropriate, with the building principal or designee before initiating teaching or other procedures not specified in the Guidebook for Substitute Teachers.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and other activities.
• Reports relevant information to the principal or designee at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
