Job summary

The Institute for Human Services, Inc. (IHS) in Hawaii seeks a Housing Specialist / Case Manager to create permanent housing opportunities by developing an inventory of available units and maintaining landlord relationships. The role supports IHS Supportive Housing programs to achieve program outcomes.

Responsibilities include screening clients, coordinating subsidy applications, and ensuring tenancy compliance while collaborating with case management staff to drive successful housing placements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year experience with homeless services or case management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access or database tools.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach and establish relationships with landlords to market programs and inventory housing units.
• Inspect rental units and communicate housing quality to HUD, Case Manager, and clients; assist with subsidies and lease compliance.
• Coordinate applications to subsidy programs such as Section 8 and arrange tenancy requirements.
• Conduct face-to-face housing presentations and schedule housing interviews with clients.
• Maintain referrals, assessments and placement plans in HUD-approved formats.
