Job summary

Dollar General in New Jersey is seeking a Perishable Department Supervisor to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery and frozen items. You will support the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising and customer service, while ensuring food safety and compliance with company policies.

The role requires a high school diploma, retail and supervisory experience, and food handling certifications. You will train staff, monitor stock, and maintain perishable presentation to drive store performance.

• Read and interpret documents, diagrams, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedures.
• Perform calculations.
• Learn cash register functions to generate reports.
• Review operating statements and identify trends.
• Cash handling procedures knowledge.
• Facility and safety control policies knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in cash accountability, key control and security practices.
• Follow company policies and SOPs, Employee Handbook, and communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using current ads, planners, order guides.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness, pricing, safe handling, stocking, rotation, grading, repackaging, markdown recording.
• Record inventory levels, analyze markdown causes, take corrective actions.
• Assist customers to address needs efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
• Assist in operational areas as directed.
