Job summary

Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center is seeking a perioperative support team member to assist with patient, specimen and equipment transport, OR sanitation, and maintenance of unit supplies. This role contributes to efficient OR operations and patient safety in a high-volume hospital setting.

The position supports OR nursing and anesthesia teams, with responsibilities including patient transport, supply stocking, and careful handling of specimens and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare certification.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning stretchers, OR tables, equipment and rooms.
• Assist the registered nurse and anesthetist in transporting postoperative patients to the recovery unit; convey and receive information promptly.
• Perform operating room sanitation tasks.
• Stock operating room with supplies.
• Check, count and stock supplies (warmers, cabinets, bovies, substerile/supply rooms, linen and bags).
• Transport patient specimens, cultures, blood and body fluids to pathology, radiology and the laboratory.
• Assist with moving and lifting patients, supplies and equipment.
• Report defective material or equipment to supervisor.
• Under supervision, assist with positioning of patients for procedures and sterile gloving.
• Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
