Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. seeks a PSA I/II to assist surgeons and support the operating room team with instrumentation, room setup, and aseptic technique. You will work under RN/surgeon supervision and may perform PSA III duties such as patient preps and case cart checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Maintain BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
• One year recent PSA II experience or current enrollment/completion in Nursing, Surgical Tech, or Medical Program

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon at surgical field by passing instrumentation at skin closure after counts are completed.
• May be primary scrub on closed procedures, splint and cast applications, and closed fracture reductions.
• Maintain aseptic technique and preparation of the surgical field.
• Under RN/surgeon supervision, PSA III duties may include patient preps, checking case carts, equipment and supplies setup, and room preparation per preference cards.
• Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy).
• May have limited access to areas storing medications.
• Maintain attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
• Report defective materials or instrumentation and take corrective action.
• Identify and correct procedural deficiencies in supplies and equipment.
• Operate basic and specialty equipment per manufacturer’s instructions.
• Demonstrate intra-operative handling of sterile equipment and supplies.
