Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the perioperative team in a safe, sterile, and efficient operating room environment. You will assist with instrument handling, prepping techniques, and adherence to aseptic protocols, under surgeon supervision.

Required certifications include BLS/CPR with AHA/ARC accepted, and a surgical technologist credential. Prior OR experience is preferred, and duties include time outs, specimen handling, and room turnover as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent program.
• Certification as a surgical technologist or certification within 12 months of graduation.
• BLS/CPR certification within one week of hire; AHA & ARC accepted.
• Surgical technologist certification required for SEIU Grade 13.
• One year of operating room experience preferred.
• Experience in accredited surgical technology program or military training program may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to scope of practice as a Surgical Technologist.
• Maintains a safe operating room environment according to Hospital policy and standards.
• Adheres to isolation protocols and standard precautions for blood/body fluid policies.
• Maintains aseptic technique and sterile field integrity.
• Assists in instrument handling and room turnover between cases.
• Participates in time outs, specimen collection, and labeling on the sterile field.
• Assists in preparation and labeling of medications on the sterile field.

Education

Associate degree in Surgical Technology

Graduate of an equivalent, accredited Surgical Technologist Program

Certified surgical technologist credential

Certification to be obtained within 12 months of graduation

Experience as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility

Army/Navy/Air Force/Marine Corps/Coast Guard training program in Surgical Technology

BLS/CPR certification within one week of hire

Surgical Technologist Certification required for SEIU Grade 13

One year of Operating Room experience
